Seeds To Happiness Blog #4 – Follow Your Passion Blindly – You ARE Enough!

“When perfectionism is driving, shame is riding shotgun, and fear is that annoying backseat driver.” – Brené Brown

Perfectionism can kill your dreams! How many times have you stopped doing something because it wasn’t perfect, because you were ashamed or got scared of public judgement? When I was a kid I loved the stage – I’d dance, I’d play in theatre or sing my heart out. I wasn’t that great at either, but no one was about to stop me get on stage and have a blast. Most of the time I would make a fool of myself but could care less. I liked to be center stage and loved the attention of the audience, and there were always those who cheered me on my courage and energy. As I grew up (circa 18 years old) I started to be self conscious about how I looked or sounded when I performed and started paying attention to public reactions, which made me stop to even want to be in the center of attention, UNLESS I got some liquid courage in me of course (i.e. alcohol). Why is that I always thought? Because when we are under the influence our courage goes up and inner child comes out. We act upon subconscious, which is the authentic us WITHOUT FEARS. Now that I think about it, I could probably have become a Hollywood actress by now if I kept on going with the same fearless attitude and passion – who knows.
What are you holding back from because of fears of shame or judgement?

Yours in following your dreams,
